ACCR currently provides special crafted interventions that make it possible for each child to reach their full potential through the following programs:

Evaluation and Diagnosis Program

The importance of this program as the entrance to the discovery and diagnosis of morbidity and identification of the associated effects and accordingly to organize appropriate interventions to confront and reduce the impact on the life of the child. The multidisciplinary assessment team are to conduct specialized individual assessment and propose prior interventions. The child is often subjected to basic diagnostic and assessment tests aimed at determining the state of health, psychological, IQ, and cognitive level through standard tests. Based on findings the multidisciplinary assessment team prioritize key interventions in the framework of an individual plan for discussion with the parents before you start implementation.

Early Intervention Program

The program is focused on helping children and parents to cope with the problems of morbidity and to reduce the aggravation of disability and its impact on the life of the individual through prevention and support measures, and training the family and caregivers about the most effective means to address the problems associated with disability.

Special Education and Academic Education Program

Special education is the set of appropriate measures aimed at developing cognitive, perceptive and behavioral skills appropriate to the conditions of the disability. Special education services are provided at the center to different disability categories, based on diagnostic and evaluation results carried out by a team of skilled and qualified specialists.

Section of mental disabilities

The section receives students of slight and moderate mental disabilities, as well as Down Syndrome, based on the results of the IQ tests and the social adjustment measures applied in the center. The students can benefit from the programs through the following measure:

  • assessment and diagnosis procedures on cognitive abilities and behavioral skills

  • comprehensive and appropriate individual plans in coordination with the family

  • Develop cognitive and cognitive skills through appropriate procedures

  • Develop the skills of independence in the implementation of personal activities and self-care

  • Promote acceptable social behavior and enhance interaction with others

Section of Cerebral Palsy

The procedures and interventions provided by the center for students with cerebral palsy conditions includes the following:

  • Prepare and organize individual case plans based on the severity of conditions

  • Develop skills of independence and self-reliance in handling the basic personal needs

  • Develop communication skills or alternative communication methods with others

  • Development of cognitive and academic skills

  • Develop social interaction with colleagues and the environment

  • Modifying associated behavioral problems

  • Provide the necessary aids to carry out basic functions inside and outside the Center

  • Develop a sense of self-confidence and develop self-concept

  • Providing facilities and activities that promote integration into public life

  • Provide appropriate physiotherapy and functional facilities

Autism Department

The Center provides special education and rehabilitation services for autistic students by using a number of internationally recognized programs such as ABA, Pix, Illustrated, Abeles and other techniques, the following activities are applied:

  • Diagnosis of cases and assessment of their capabilities

  • Prepare the appropriate individual plan in coordination with parents

  • Promote positive behavioral patterns

  • Establish a strong interactive relationship with the situation to enhance trust and openness

  • Training in the skills of independence and self-reliance

  • Progressive control of stereotypes and hyperactivity by alternative means

  • Develop academic and cognitive skills by means of interesting explanations and aids

  • Encourage interaction with peers, the environment and the family

Section of Counseling and Awareness

In addition to the role of the center in providing medical rehabilitation support for students, it provides outreach services to the people and society about the importance of screening impairments and treating problems of motor or functional disability and how to adopt preventive measures, the center deals with this role through direct communication or by issuing educational brochures or organizing seminars on on various topics.

Behavior Modification Section

The Center pays special attention to confronting the behavioral problems of students with specialized strategies according to the nature and intensity of disability in order to raise the level of educational achievement and increase social interaction and adaptation to the environment.

Section of Studies and Development

The Center focuses on the development of special education procedures and appropriate rehabilitation of local culture based on the global academic and applied references. This is achieved through the design of educational programs and curricula and the development of means and activities that are most effective in achieving the objectives contained in the individual plans and subjecting them to periodic review and enhancing them with new developments and methods. Through qualified technical staff at the Center, in cooperation with experts, specialists, local academic institutions and specialized international training institutions.

Medical Care Program

The Medical team of the center consists of general physicians and nursing staff to provide medical supervision and health care around the clock (24 hours) for day school and boarding student , The health program includes:

  • Providing medical services for students and individuals who visit the clinic daily

  • Periodic comprehensive medical examination of resident students

  • Immunization of children according to age groups and vaccination schedule approved by the Abu Dhabi Health Authority.

  • Providing specialized medical services

  • Cooperating with the various rehabilitation departments to provide an integrated service to students living in the center

  • Organizing health education courses periodically for the different groups working in the center, in order to serve the rehabilitation plan in a safe and healthy manner

Nutrition

The Clinical Nutrition Department plays a very important role in the management of nutritional concerns among people with disabilities based on results of the medical examination and specifically the nutritional problems of each student/resident.

The Dietitian /Nutritionist provides an individual nutritional plan based on the nutrition screening by the device of In-Body S10 “body composition analysis” which provides accurate results about the body components “water – body fat mass – body muscle mass – BMI – BMR …” as well as the diagnose and any other food intolerance with consideration of the favorite of like / dislike food of each individual.

Also, supervises the improvements and developments of the individual’s situation and do a regular follow ups on a monthly basis as well as consideration of the importance of implementation for a short & long term plan to all critical cases as required or needed.

The Clinical Nutrition Department is responsible for the nutrition training, nutrition /food counseling, health and self-hygiene guidelines for each of the kitchen staff as well as the Student’s care givers which are also provided with special nutritional awareness and hygiene awareness along with the nutritional education guidelines for all center’s employee such as teachers, supervisors, caregivers, managements, and parents as well for their son’s with the specific nutritional plan.

Paramedical Rehabilitation Program

Within the framework of the overall planning of the potential investment of the individual, the Center provides support rehabilitation services through a team of specialists in the program's target areas.

The medical rehabilitation is one of the main inputs in the organization of rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities. The program aims at addressing the physical, functional and linguistic deficiencies related to disability through interventions aimed at reducing the deficiency of the handicap and investing in the remaining capacities and developing them in a way that helps build a life as independent as possible. Our center is the pioneer in this field through the use of modern high-tech equipment in the implementation of the procedures that are implemented by a team of qualified specialists in various fields of the assistive medical rehabilitation including:

Physical Therapy Section

Physical, functional and linguistic disabilities associated with disability through interventions aimed at reducing the deterioration of the shortcomings and working on the investment of the remaining capabilities and development in order to build an independent life as much as possible, and occupy our position of leadership in this area through the use of modern high-tech devices in the implementation of procedures that It is implemented by qualified specialists in various fields of medical rehabilitation, The physical therapy section provides services for physical injury cases among the students of the center where the treatment program is organized based on the results of diagnosis and identification of the need for interventions of physiotherapy. The team organizes the necessary treatment plan and applies it within the time frame and evaluating the results to achieve autonomy and self-reliance as much as possible.

Cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome and others.The following interventions are provided by the section:

  • Thermal Therapy

  • Massage treatment

  • Therapeutic exercises

  • Hydrotherapy is one newly developed and introduced in the center and being built on high standards concerning pools , equipment and facilities. The center offers water treatment program for students in the center and also for out patients. Two swimming pools are available and managed by a highly qualified professionals.

Occupational Therapy Section

The section provides services to the physical and mental disorders of the center's students. The department aims to develop the skills necessary for the individual to perform and implement roles and practices that contribute to the building of independence and self-reliance as much as possible. The implementation of interventions procedures are provided by qualified professionals. The planned interventions are to be discussed in advance with students and parents along with the professional evaluation of the therapist in using creative activities to achieve the goals set.

Speech and Language Therapy Section

The Section provides services for the categories of autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and hearing impairment. The procedures include addressing the language and pronunciation problems for the students of the center and developing their speaking abilities.

Vocational Rehabilitation Program

The program prepares children to perform tasks similar to actual job situations. It also provides basic information about various vocations and trades and prepares them for future formal vocational rehabilitation at our different workshops.

Integration Program

This program provides guidance and support required to behave appropriately and to communicate effectively with other members of their community.

Human Development Program

To develop the professional abilities of the staff in partnership with regional and international agencies, a specialized training center will be established in the future to offer formal, specialized rehabilitation training across the region.
